Training: Jon Morrell studied set and costume design at the Central School of Art and Design in London. Theatre includes: His Dark Materials (NT), The Winter’s Tale (NT), Sonny Boys (Deutsches Theater, Berlin, set and costume), The Government Inspector (Chichester Festival Theatre, set and costume) and Talk of the City (RSC Swan). Opera includes: Maometto II (Santa Fe Opera, opens July 2012, set and costume), Rigoletto (Scottish Opera/New Zealand Opera, set and costume), Partenope (ENO, Olivier Award for Best New Opera Production/Opera Australia, Helpmann Award for Best Opera), Tannhauser (Royal Opera House), Aida (Canadian Opera Company), Medea in Corinto (Theatre St Gallen, Switzerland), Jenufa (ENO, Olivier Award for Best New Opera Production, Houston Grand Opera/Washington Opera), Iphigenie en Tauride (Staatsoper Hamburg, set and costume), Werther (Vilnius Congress Hall, set design), La Clemenza di Tito (Teatro Regio di Torino, set and costume), Turandot (Norrlandsoperan, Sweden, set and costume), Angels in America (Le Châtelet, Paris), Tosca (Opera Australia/Opera North), La Bohème (English National Opera), Norma (Del Liceu, Barcelona/Grand Théâtre de Genève), Giasone (Spoleto Festival, USA), Wozzeck (Dallas Opera) and Kat’a Kabanová (ENO/Polish National Opera/Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos, Lisbon/Dallas Opera/Houston Grand Opera). Ballet includes: collaborations with choreographer Ashley Page for Royal Ballet, Scottish Ballet and, most recently, A Guide to Strange Places for San Francisco Ballet. With Christopher Wheeldon: Carnival of the Animals (New York City Ballet/Houston Ballet) and Rush (Edinburgh Festival/San Francisco Ballet).
